Sun StorEdge A1000 and D1000 The Sun StorEdge A1000 and D1000 arrays provide outstanding performance, availability, and redundancy for Sun's desktop and workgroup customers. For fast growing, I/O intensive networks, the Sun StorEdge A1000/D1000 arrays provide proven performance, reliability, and versatility that will easily support your demanding storage requirements. The Sun StorEdge D1000 array is available with cost efficient server based software RAID, while the Sun StorEdge A1000 array has a dedicated 70 MIPS processor managing and controlling all RAID functions.

Highlights

  • Key Applications:
Fast growing, I/O intensive networks. Desktop and workgroup applications requiring value-based external RAID storage. Applications include: small databases, file sharing, email, Web Caching and Web Serving.

  • Key Specifications:
Up to 436 GB of storage (12 x 36 GB) in a single Sun StorEdge A1000/D1000 array. Up to 3.92 TB (nine Sun StorEdge A1000/D1000 arrays) in a single rack cabinet. Hardware RAID controller with dedicated 70 MIPS processor and up to 80 MB of cache memory.

  • Key Benefits:
Full RAID functionality: designed for high data integrity and availability. Redundant, hot-swap components: designed to be easy to service while online. Reliable Hardware-RAID Array (A1000): designed to provide for superior RAID-5 performance and minimal cost for data protection. High Performance JBOD Array (D1000): servers may access the disk drives as individual storage components or may use software RAID solutions to aggregate the disk drives into bigger logical disk volumes. The A1000 is available with RAID Manager software.
